Vintage Cake Craft is a family business, based in the lovely village of Moulton, Lincolnshire. Run by myself, Lesley with the help and support of my husband, Ralph.
Moulton’s chief landmarks are All Saints’ Church, known as “The Queen of the Fens” and Moulton Windmill, the tallest tower mill in the United Kingdom.
When I lived Warwickshire I ran Poplar Cake Craft for over 10 years but reluctantly gave up the business when my Husband’s job bought us to this area. I have continued to make and decorate cakes for family and friends ever since and last year I decided to return to making cakes from my home in Moulton, Lincolnshire.
Royal icing was only referred to as such after it was used on Queen Victoria’s wedding cake (1840). Royal icing was very popular in the UK till the early 1980s, but unfortunately seems to have fallen out of favour with most cake decorators. Like the rest of the world the UK has a dependence on sugarpaste or fondant as a covering for cakes.
I specialise in making Rich Fruit Royal Iced Panel Cakes which are rarely seen today. These Panel Cakes are covered in Royal Icing then decorated using Royal Iced Panels and old fashioned piping skills.
I also make Rich Fruit or Sponge cakes for any occasion whether it be Corporate, Graduation, Wedding, Civil partnerships, Anniversary, Baby shower, Christening or Birthdays, in fact, Vintage Cake Craft will make you a cake for any occasion.
I am registered with the Local Authority’s Health & Environmental Services and received regular visits by them to check my compliance with the 1990 Food Safety Act, Food Safety (general food hygiene) Regulations 1995 and Temperature control Regulations 1995
